The Belgian partners of the REENFORCE consortium — Ghent University (UGent), AAMS (Advanced Agricultural Measurement Systems), and Biowork — recently came together for a dedicated exchange meeting hosted across the UGent and AAMS facilities in Belgium.
The meeting provided a focused and collaborative setting for the three partner organisations to engage in in-depth discussions around their shared research responsibilities and the progress of secondment visits within the REENFORCE project. Held on-site across two partner facilities, the gathering allowed participants to combine scientific dialogue with direct, hands-on engagement with the research environments where key project activities are taking place.
At the heart of the discussions were the ongoing research tasks assigned to the Belgian partners, with teams reviewing current progress, exchanging methodological insights, and identifying opportunities for closer alignment across their respective workstreams. The secondment visits programme — a vital mechanism within REENFORCE for enabling knowledge transfer and researcher mobility between consortium members — was also a central topic, with partners deliberating over planning, logistics, and the scientific outcomes expected from upcoming and completed visits.
The choice to convene across both UGent and AAMS facilities was a deliberate one, offering participants the opportunity to directly engage with the infrastructures, equipment, and research settings that underpin the Belgian contribution to REENFORCE. This hands-on dimension enriched the exchange and deepened mutual understanding of each partner's capabilities and ongoing work.
Meetings of this nature are central to the REENFORCE model of collaborative, cross-institutional research. By fostering regular and direct communication between partners, the project ensures that its research activities remain well-coordinated, scientifically rigorous, and aligned with the broader goals of advancing sustainable and innovative crop protection solutions across Europe.
We look forward to sharing further updates as the outcomes of these discussions take shape in the coming months!
