On 26 May 2026, Smart Agro Hub co-organised and hosted an online clustering workshop bringing together three complementary Horizon Europe projects: REENFORCE, BEATLES and AGRO-WELL. The event attracted around 20 participants from the research communities associated with the three projects.
A Meeting Point for Complementary Visions
The workshop was designed as a structured opportunity for the three projects to exchange knowledge, identify common ground and explore potential synergies. While each project approaches the challenge of sustainable agriculture from a distinct angle, all three share a commitment to advancing research-driven solutions that support the green and digital transition of the European agricultural sector.
REENFORCE focuses on strengthening human capital and research excellence in bio-based, low-risk and smart crop protection, developing training materials, secondment opportunities and scientific protocols that bridge research and field practice.
BEATLES works towards a systemic transition to climate-smart agriculture, studying five major agri-food systems across Europe and developing behavioural insights, business strategies and policy recommendations to accelerate the shift towards fair and environmentally friendly food systems.
AGRO-WELL takes a highly interdisciplinary approach to occupational safety and health in agriculture, exploring how emerging digital and smart technologies can make farming safer, healthier and more attractive — particularly for younger generations entering the sector.
Building a Collaborative Research Network
The clustering workshop provided participants with the opportunity to present their respective project activities, discuss overlapping research interests and identify concrete areas for future collaboration. With around 20 researchers and project representatives in attendance, the event fostered a spirit of openness and mutual learning that reflects the broader ethos of the Horizon Europe programme.
Discussions during the workshop ranged from methodological approaches and field experiences to dissemination strategies and stakeholder engagement — highlighting the many ways in which projects working on different aspects of sustainable agriculture can reinforce and complement one another.
Smart Agro Hub's role as co-organiser and host of the event underscores its ongoing commitment to building a connected European research ecosystem and to positioning REENFORCE as an active and collaborative partner within the Horizon Europe community.
