The Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) organised a successful REENFORCE Online Workshop titled "Smart Spraying Applications in Agriculture: Cases from EU-Funded Projects", held on 26 March 2026 from 14:00 to 15:15 EET via Microsoft Teams.
The workshop brought together researchers and practitioners to explore the latest advances in smart spraying technologies within the context of EU-funded research, creating a valuable space for knowledge exchange and cross-project collaboration — a cornerstone of REENFORCE's clustering activities.
The session opened with a presentation by Michael Koutsiaras, Project Manager and AUA Research Associate, who introduced the REENFORCE project to participants, outlining its objectives, methodology, and expected contribution to sustainable crop protection across Europe.
The floor then passed to Vassilis Psiroukis, AUA Research Associate, who led the two subsequent sessions of the workshop. In the first, he presented findings from the ICAERUS Project, focusing on drone spraying applications and their deployment across European agricultural contexts. In the second, he delved into the PERA Project, addressing the characterisation of deposition patterns across relevant environmental matrices — a topic of critical importance for understanding the environmental impact and precision of modern spraying technologies.
Each presentation was followed by a dedicated Q&A segment, encouraging dialogue between speakers and attendees and fostering connections between the REENFORCE consortium and sister projects working in complementary areas of agri-innovation.
This workshop exemplifies REENFORCE's commitment to building bridges across EU-funded research initiatives, amplifying shared knowledge, and advancing the adoption of precision and smart agriculture technologies. By convening experts from multiple projects under one virtual roof, the event reinforced the collaborative spirit that drives the project forward.
We thank all participants and speakers for their valuable contributions and look forward to future clustering events!
