On 22 April 2026, Smart Agro Hub carried out a school visit at the 3rd Technical School of Athens, delivering a dedicated presentation on the REENFORCE project to students of the school's agricultural programme.
Taking European Research into the Classroom
The visit formed part of Smart Agro Hub's ongoing commitment to reaching beyond the traditional boundaries of academic and professional audiences and bringing the work of REENFORCE directly to young people who are beginning their journey in agriculture. The students in attendance are enrolled in the agricultural track of the school and are among those aspiring to continue their studies at the Agricultural University of Athens — making them a particularly relevant and receptive audience for the REENFORCE message.
The presentation introduced students to the core themes of the project — bio-based and low-risk crop protection, ecotoxicological assessment and smart spraying technologies — in an accessible and engaging format, tailored to a younger audience with a growing interest in the future of farming. The session sparked lively discussion, with students asking questions about career opportunities in agricultural research, the role of technology in modern farming and the practical applications of the solutions being developed within REENFORCE.
Why Schools Matter for REENFORCE
Engaging with secondary school students is a meaningful and often overlooked dimension of research dissemination. Today's agricultural students are tomorrow's farmers, agronomists, researchers and policymakers. By introducing them to European research projects like REENFORCE at an early stage, Smart Agro Hub is helping to cultivate an informed and motivated next generation of professionals who understand the importance of sustainable, science-based crop protection.
The visit also served to raise awareness of the broader opportunities available within the European research and innovation ecosystem — from university pathways and research careers to the kind of cross-border collaboration that defines projects like REENFORCE.
