Heraklion, 25 September 2026. As part of Researchers' Night 2026, the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) presented the poster "NextGenBioPest and REENFORCE: Innovative strategies for sustainable and low-risk pest management" in Heraklion, Greece.

Researchers' Night is an annual celebration of science that brings researchers and the public together. The poster gave around 70 visitors, both citizens and members of the research community, an accessible introduction to two Horizon Europe projects working toward more sustainable crop protection.

The presentation focused on how the projects approach pest management through innovative, low-risk strategies. These strategies aim to reduce reliance on conventional chemical inputs while supporting farmers, protecting the environment and strengthening Europe's research capacity in the field.

A key aim of FORTH's participation was to introduce REENFORCE to a new audience. The project builds research and innovation capacity for sustainable crop protection, and the event let visitors learn about its goals and its connection to NextGenBioPest. Citizens had a chance to see how EU-funded research relates to the food they eat and the environment they live in. Researchers from other fields were able to discuss potential links to their own work.
